Mr. Anderson is seeking this position to advocate for local participation in jobs created by the port, which directly impacts the quality of life for residents within the Port District. He also wants to promote the need for environmental protection, increased positive relationships with neighboring municipalities, maintenance of financial responsibility by continuing to not levy taxes and port competitiveness.
Joseph is a native of Palm Beach County and graduated from Suncoast Community High School. Upon graduation, he continued his educational career at Bethune Cookman University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He also enrolled in numerous graduate level business courses at Palm Beach Atlantic University and Nova Southeastern University. Mr. Anderson is a state certified contractor and currently the owner of J.D. Anderson Construction, Inc. Prior to establishing his construction company, he was a Numbers Analyst at AT&T (Cellular Service Dept.) for 19 years.
Mr. Anderson is a public servant who has been actively involved in numerous organizations over the years such as, Together We Stand Democratic Club (current President), League of Women Voters (member), Voters League of the Palm Beaches (member and former President), Palm Beach County Democratic Party (member and co-precinct zone leader for 3N), the Florida Democratic Black Caucus of Palm Beach County (member), Black Elected Officials (associate member), The Office of Small Business Assistance-Palm Beach County (advisory board member), The City of West Palm Beach Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (appointed member) and served on the Port of Palm Beach Audit Committee FY 2014. In addition to his public servant duties, he also umpired and coached little league baseball throughout Palm Beach County for many years.
Joseph is married to Councilperson KaShamba Miller-Anderson (Riviera Beach).
The election for this seat will take place on August 30, 2016.
